Lesson 13

In this lesson, students are introduced to the Double Paradiddle rudiment by displaying its rhythmic representation of six sixteenth notes, its designated correct sticking combining single strokes and double strokes, and incorporating an accent on the first note of each rhythmic group. The instructor guides students through the rhythmic explanation, and demonstrates each stroke, and for both hands. Emphasis is placed on proper technique and stick height, and tips on how to apply this rudiment to musical passages. The lesson concludes with encouraging students to continue to practice the exercise at different tempos and dynamics for a greater level of mastery.
