Lesson 5

In this video, students are guided through the notation and performance fundamentals necessary to perform the bass drum part to the four sections of “The Moose” and are shown a demonstration of each section after a discussion of its rhythmic counting, as well as a demonstration of the bass drum part being performed in context of the entire drumline. Students are encouraged to continually perform in single stroke rudiments, and are required to execute a crescendo. The lesson concludes by encouraging students to practice their bass drum part until fluidity is achieved.
