In this lesson, students progress further on the “Pizza Party Game” by continuing to use the words: “cheese” for the quarter note value, “mushroom” for two eighth note equivalents, “anchovies” for three eighth note triplet values, and “pepperoni” for sixteenth note values, but now a 3/4 meter is incorporated, and students are instructed to execute double strokes for the “pepperoni” sixteenth values. The examples are demonstrated by reciting the syllables while simultaneously striking the snare drum, and the lesson concludes with encouraging students to create their own slices of pizza and challenge their friends!
