Lesson 4

In this lesson, students are given combinations of quarter notes and eighth notes in 4/4 and 3/4 time signatures to perform. Each rhythm pattern is discussed and performed by the instructor, and in addition to learning about engaging and disengaging the snare mechanism on the drum, students are introduced to performing on the rim of the drum, and are required to combine these two performance techniques. Students are challenged by accelerating the rhythmic exercises, and the lesson concludes with encouraging the students to continue to practice the exercises for mastery level.
