Lesson 14
In this lesson, students are introduced to the techniques of “filtering,” in which the high and/or low frequency sound waves within a track can be diminished or eliminated in comparison to the other frequencies that exist. Using filtering provides an additional palette of creativity for the composer to experiment with sounds, and adds variety to their tracks. Students are guided through a sample composition where this technique is explained and demonstrated, and the lesson concludes by encouraging students to be creative and apply filtering to their compositions.
