Lesson 18

In this lesson, students are introduced to using arranging skills in “Garage Band’’ to add different sounds to the rhythmic elements within a single track. Using a demo composition, students are shown how to isolate the various rhythmic elements within a track and reassign each rhythmic element to a new sound, which adds great depth and variety to the composition. Changing the sounds within tracks allows them to work together to fill up different spaces within the context of the composition. The lesson concludes with encouraging students to use these arranging techniques to create more interesting tracks with deeper instrumentation and variety.
